Prices Are Out of Control, THIS Pushed Me Over The Edge
My Best Tips to Save Money, Even As You Spend
Look, I know things are getting more expensive, but this hit me hard. I went to a food truck yesterday — not a fancy restaurant, not a high-end steakhouse — a freakin’ truck. I ordered two Philly cheesesteaks for me and my wife Danielle… and the total came to $42 with tax.
Forty-two bucks! For two sandwiches!
At a truck! In a parking lot!
It’s not just cheesesteaks. Have you noticed how ridiculous everything is lately?
A carton of eggs used to be $1.99. Now I’m seeing $5.
Gas? Don’t even get me started. Filling up your car feels like taking out a small loan.
Even basic grocery items — bread, milk, snacks for the kids — are up 20, 30, even 40% from just a couple years ago.
Fast food value meals? Not so value-able anymore.
A pack of paper towels is now a financial commitment.
It’s like we’re all playing a real-life game of “How Much Did That Used to Cost?”
And I get it — inflation, supply chain issues, corporate markups, all that. But still… $42 for cheesesteaks?!
I’m sharing this because I know I’m not alone. Every time I share these stories, people write in telling me their own price shock moments. One woman told me her kid’s ice cream cone at a boardwalk stand was $9. Just for one scoop!
So what can we do? I’ll never tell you to stop living your life — you deserve to eat the cheesesteak — but here are a few simple things to help push back:
Rossen Tips to Fight Back Against Crazy Prices:
Use cash-back apps every time you shop. Even 2% adds up fast.
Sign up for loyalty rewards — grocery stores and chains often offer hidden discounts just for signing in.
Track prices. Tools like Honey, CamelCamelCamel, and Google Shopping show you when prices drop online.
And it’s not just food. Have you seen the price of phone cases lately? Some are $60, $70, $100 - just for a case! But there are also cheap ones selling for a fraction of the price. So I wanted to know: are the expensive ones really worth it? I put them to the ultimate test - literally threw phones off my house - to find out which ones actually protect your phone and which ones just drain your wallet.

I’m Obsessed With This (Father’s Day Edition)
Father’s Day is around the corner, and you’re panicked. I’m a dad, and even I get how annoying it is to shop for me.
Great news…
I’ve been testing, researching, and obsessing over the coolest, most useful, and yes, most affordable Father’s Day gifts out there. I’m talking products that are actually good. Not the “best dad ever” mugs. Real stuff he’ll love (or you will - no shame in gifting yourself).
Some are clever gadgets. Some are major upgrades. Some are under $20. Many just went on sale. But all of them? Rossen Reports APPROVED.
So whether you’re shopping for your dad, husband, partner, grandpa — or frankly, just want a deal for yourself - here are the products I’m really into this week that’ll actually arrive in time!

Couldn’t agree more about the outrageous prices at restaurants, food trucks, and everywhere else. My best hack is to always choose water (free). Alternately, pre-game with canned cocktails: https://open.substack.com/pub/dealsecrets/p/why-are-we-paying-12-for-cocktails?r=1pql5n&utm_medium=ios
